2009-03-18--EXTRA WITH CORRECTION--Colton-Pierrepont Project Passes, Board Adopts Budget |
|
Voters of the Colton-Pierrepont School District decided with a margin of 105-54 to expend a 1.2 million-dollar capital reserve for roof replacement, a new kitchen stove with fire suppression unit, and asbestos abatement with the remainder of the funds. The reserve was approved by the taxpayers about 4 years ago. The Board of Education voted earlier this evening to send the voters a 9.22 million-dollar spending plan for next school year. The bottom line is 118-thousand dollars less than the current, and a levy hike of about 4 percent to make up for a state aid loss of over 12 percent. Two teachers and 11/2 administrative positions were cut. Our previous story mentioned a spending HIKE, not a spending DECREASE; we regret the error.
