NATE MARSHALL CALLS IDOL EXPERIENCE 'CRAZY'--Marshall, cut in the final rounds of this season's televised talent contest, told WICY Radio in Malone Friday he hopes to use the experience to get work either on stage or recording.
PROSECUTOR SAYS DRINKING AGE DISCUSSIONS 'LONG OVERDUE'--St. Lawrence County Assistant DA Tom Finnerty told a Clarkson University audience this week based on the amount of alcohol-related cases he and his colleagues handle, that an overall discussion of alcohol-related problems, including the legal age should be alooked at and changed if appropriate.
SUNY CANTON ALUMNUS/BENEFACTOR JOEL CANINO DIES--Canino was a 1958 Air Conditioning Technology graduate who went on to found Gemma Power Systems, one of the largest power plant construction firms in the nation. Canino is noted for a 2 million-dollar gift to SUNY Canton in 2004, still ranked as one of the largest all-time single cash gifts to any SUNY school. Canino was also Chair of the SUNY Canton Foundation Board.
LOG WAGON ACCIDENT INJURES HEUVELTON MAN--Sheriff's deputies say Dan H. Miller of County Route 10 sustaines serious head injuries when he fell from the wagon on State Route 68 in Lisbon late Friday morning. He was transferred from Claxton-Hepburn Medical Center in Ogdensburg to University Hospital in Syracuse. A condition report was not available today.
WELLER RESIGNS FROM CODE ENFORCEMENT POST, SOURCES SAY--Michael Weller, the Town of Potsdam official accused of sexually harassing female co-workers and suspended from his post this week, has reportedly stepped down from the job. Weller discussed the issue with the Watertown Daily Times, saying among other things that he worked in a "mosh pit full of women," a "cesspool of negativity" and attended "man-hating women's club" meetings.
DANIELS TO APPEAR ON 'MILLIONAIRE' MONDAY AFTER ALL--Kierre Daniels, a 1999 Clarkson University graduate who was a sports announcer here at WSNN-WPDM for a time, will appear on 'Who Wants To Be A Millionaire' Monday. Previous reports had Monday as one date, it was then switched and then back again to Monday.
