SEVERE INJURY TO INFANT BRINGS FELONY CHARGE FOR MASSENA MAN--Village Police arrested 22-year-old Martin Hampton-Laengrich of East Orvis Street about 1 this morning on a count of felony second degree assault, alleging he inflicted severe injuries to a 1-month-old child. The investigation is ongoing; the arrest was made on a complaint filed by Massena Memorial Hospital. Hampton-Laengrich was held in police lockup until his arraignment before a justice later today.
AMP ENGINEERING ASSESSMENT POSITIVE--Wade Davis told the Town of Potsdam Council last week engineers were in the area at the end of January assessing the National Grid infrastructure the Alliance for Municipal Power would take over if and when it becomes a public utility. Davis says engineers confirmed cost savings estimates.
AKWESASNE MAN ARRESTED ON FELONY A-U-O CHARGE SUNDAY--Massena-based State Police went to the Massena Port of Entry Sunday to arrest 19-year-old Trent Thomas of Wish Delormier Road, Ontario after he allegedly tried to get through Customs drunk, with marijuana, a pipe, and a suspended driver's license. Thomas was arraigned and jailed on a thousand dollars cash bail or 2-thousand dollars bail bond with a court date Wednesday.
POTSDAM ANIMAL SHELTER REAPS 3-THOUSAND DOLLARS FROM CANTON FUNDRAISER--Lucas Manning, proprietor of Partridge Cafe sat on the roof of his business Friday taking donations for the Shelter. Despite falling short of a 5-thousand dollar goal, the Humane Society is overjoyed with the results. The Humane Society needs to raise 250-thousand so it can break ground by the end of September for its expansion project on Outer Madrid Avenue.
