99 NEWS HEADLINES FOR TUESDAY, 1/6/09...WINTER STORM WATCH BEGINNING TONIGHT THROUGH THURSDAY AFTERNOON, SNOW, SLEET AND FREEZING RAIN...

MASSENA CONTRACTOR ACCUSED OF RIPPING OFF CUSTOMER, JAILED WITHOUT BAIL--Norfolk Town Police arrested 49-year-old Robert Pitts Sunday on felony counts of grand larceny, scheme to defraud, and criminal mischief alleging he failed to do work for homeowners who hired him and paid him nearly 37-hundred dollars. Pitts also allegedly did damage to items in the home. He was arraigned before Town Justice George Grubbee.

COUNTY LEGISLATURE LEADERSHIP NOW BIPARTISAN--Legislators voted Monday to elect Democrat Gregory Paquin of Massena Chairman, and Republican Alex MacKinnon of Fowler Vice Chair. Peter Fitzrandolph of Canton lost the election to Chair by one vote, and declined the nomination for Vice Chair. The bipartisan top ticket is seen as a way to ease divisions.

EDWARDS GANG ASSAULT--A 17-year-old boy was attacked by a group of five other males, in what was reported to be a dispute over a female last Friday. The victimwas treated at EJ Noble Hospital in Gouverneur. 19-year-old Daniel Roe and 17-year-old Thomas Aldrich and three juveniles were all arrested for the alleged assault, as was 36-year-old Bessie Roe on a count of criminal facilitation, alleging she gave the three juveniles a ride to the location of the assault

MASSENA TEEN CAUGHT WITH STOLEN SNOWMOBILE, JAILED--State Police say 17-year-old Allen Dennis was stopped on the Dyke Trail on New Year's Day and was found to allegedly be riding a sled swiped from Sovie's Cycle Shop in Potsdam in October. Dennis was arraigned and sent to the county lockup in Canton on 10-thousand dollars cash bail or 20-thousand dollars bail bond.  Troopers say the investigation continues and more arrests are likely.
